Trouble makers are lined up in every nook and corner in India . Law and Order in India means nothing. Rules are more honoured in breach. Taking law into their hands is their favourite past time. Worst, the "ever-ready political poachers' come to help them. The fringe of spate of arson and violence ahead of release of film "Padmavat" on Jan 25 is the latest naked display of "goondagardi".
Despite nation's top court ordering states to ensure safe screening of the film from Friday, there is hardly any hope of its release in BJP ruled sates. The saffron party and its affiliates are "hand in glove" with those opposing the screening of film for alleged "dishouring " of Rajput's pride. The film will not be screened in in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, all four ruled by BJP. The Multiplex Association of India said on Thursday that its members would not screen Padmaavat in these states as fringe run riots. The situation in Haryana is too bad.
The bitter memories of Sirsa based Dera Sacha Sauda violence in August last after Gurmit Ram Rahim was convicted in Sadhvi rape case hard to be erased. Thousands of Dera followers were allowed to assemble and position themselves near the court complex. They were pampered and made to feel at home by the administration despite the apprehension of violence in case Dera chief was convicted. The failure of the Khattar govt to " perform its constitutional duty is unparalleled in Haryana history. This was the second time the state was plunged into lawlessness and administration remained silent spectator.
Earlier, the reservation agitation by Jats had paralysed the state for over ten days. The sate was shamed by Murthal gang-rape incident. Women traveling to their destinations were pulled out of cars, stripped and gang-raped by goons during the agitation. The incident had not only shamed India but had hurt the Nation's pride. With cinema owners deciding not to screen the film, four states have heaved a sigh of relief but the big question remain: Is India rule by law or by goons?
