Hats off to doctors and para-medical staff working in govt-run hospitals. They work under tremendous pressure. Yet they look cheerful, docile and are very helpful. A visit to any govt run hospitals is horrible. You find stream of patients and it looks as if the entire city has fallen ill. As the govt run hospitals are meant for poor and lower middle class, the rush is very heavy. The WHO report says the incidence of sickness is more frequent among lower class as they are more prone to diseases. Even the chemist shops run inside hospitals' premises face huge rush. Media places govt run hospitals more negatively than private ones. So govt run hospitals don't carry good image despite the fact they serve without any incentive and are subjected to political pressure. I didn't carry good opinion about govt run hospitals for obvious reasons. But my opinion was changed after my wife was admitted in govt hospital sector 16. She had broken her ankle and had to be operated. My son wasn't prepared to admit her in govt hospital as he wasn't sure of prompt services. But my fraternity advised me to get her admitted in sector 16 general hospital. Despite heavy rush of patients, my wife was attended very well. Doctors looked after to their best. She was diagnosed with high sugar, doctors looked more worried than the patient and did their best to control her blood sugar before she was were treated Now, his opinion is completely changed . He has rated the hospital as one of the best in the region . Must admit, I was prejudiced. Govt hospitals aren't that bad. Despite working on contractual assignment, the conduct of para-medical staff, especially nurses are too good. We need to change our perception.
